Leadership Crisis

Founder of Pakistan, Muhammad Ali Jinnah

Jinnah was leading the Muslim caravan for freedom but soon after achieving his goal of independence he died in Ziarat (Baluchistan) on September 11, 1948. He was a true visionary leader who paved the way for getting the nascent state of Pakistan from the British imperialism and Hindu dominance.

Soon after his departure, we faced leadership crisis, there was no lieutenant who could hold the flag of Jinnah’s mission and could carry it forward. Some traitors within the ranks of Muslim league started confusing Jinnah’s vision for a welfare Islamic Pakistan.

Some sincere comrades of Jinnah under the leadership of Khan Liaqat Ali Khan and Allama Shabbir Usmani gave it a last desperate try to take a step towards fulfilling Jinnah’s dream of making Pakistan a true Islamic state by passing the objective resolution from the constituent assembly.

This proved to be a futile exercise because corrupt mafia waiting in the wings got control over the power immediately after Quaid-e-Millat was murdered by a man named, Said Akbar, in broad daylight. No investigations were carried out regarding the death of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and Shaheed-e-Millat Khan Liaqat Ali Khan. This proved to be a big chance for politicians who started looting Pakistan from within. Even the country was without any constitution for almost 9 years.
The corrupt political system faltered and provided Army with a window of opportunity to increase its role in the political sphere; Army took over the government, basic human rights were suspended and martial law was imposed. This ultimately resulted in the dismemberment of the country into two pieces.

Some people argue that Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto was a statesman and I agree with them somewhat because he took serious steps for changing the political system but per my view, he was equally responsible for 71 tragedy.

After Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, no political personality had the guts to face the imperialist powers and corrupt political elite and never tried to change the system rather they flowed with the flowing water.
